First draft feedback

i intend to use a different font for my cover lines on front cover 1, in order to make them more visable. i also will use a different colour for my cover line on front cover 2, as this will make it stand out more and be more visible.
for my 2 contents pages, i will take some more photos over half term for the main photo so that it looks more on brand with the 2 front covers and to promote synergy across my products. i also want to change to layout of the contents pages, and have 1 page just be an image, as i feel that this is more conventional to high end style magazines produced by conde nast. i am also considering removing the picture of the front cover models from the the contents pages, and using different models in order to show a variety of photos and different shot types.
for my website, i will add a linked page in order to fulfill conventions of a style magazine website. i also need to make my 30 second audio visual clip, and write an article that can be linked to a page.

audience research group

website editing

i made my subscribe page on my website in order to conform to conventions of style magazine websites. i have different options of subscription for the audience in order for them to have a more interactive experience with the website, and to make it as functional as possible.

i added a 'home' section on my website in order to conform with conventions of style magazine websites. i included the main articles about fashion, and i also plan to have an advert in the fashion section. the title 'Emma in Wonderland' is intertextuality as it references 'Alice in Wonderland'. i thought this made sense because my model was wearing a blue dress, which is also what Alice is typically portrayed as wearing.

i have several stories about fashion here and also a button for the next page. this is in order to promote as much interactivity with my website as possible

to promote a strong sense of brand identity, i have shown a collab with a photographer previously mentioned on one of my front covers. this is to showcase all of her photos, and to allow the audience to be as interactive as possible with my website. this also creates star image for my model on the front cover, helping to create authenticity

contents page two editing

i added a the masthead, contents, editors letter title and date to my 2nd contents page. this was in order to conform with conventions, and also to make sure that the layout was similar to my 1st contents page to create a cohesive sense of brand identity. i also added the social media links and page numbers to conform to conventions. i had a picture of my model from my first contents page in order to further create a cohesive sense of brand identity among my products

i added a picture of the front page that is the same issue as the contents page in order to create brand identity. i also added captions to all of the photos on my contents page so that i can make sure that my NEA fulflls that brief requirements and also conforms to conventions of contents pages

i added contents to my contents page so that i could make sure that it conforms to conventions. i also added some intertextuality with the title 'Accidentally in Love' refering to the song 'Accidentally in Love' by rock band Counting Crowns in 2004

AFTER THE FIRST DRAFT

my feedback from my first draft lead me to realise that my primary photo from my first draft did not fit the general atmosphere of my magazine. in order to create a cohesive sense of branding, i wanted to take a photo that felt more creative and 'artsy', in keeping with the tone of my magazine. therefore, i replaced the primary photo with a photo that i consider to be more creative, and that i also think reflects the style conscious audience. this is because my model is dressed in a style conscious manner typical of high end style magazines, for example Vogue and Elle, and is applying make up, which is common in style magazines. i also changed the layout of my contents page, as i felt that it was more conventional to have my primary photo go across a whole page instead of only 2/3 of one.

I was able to finish the cut out of my model and moved her to sit lower down the page, as I wanted to be able to include more text such as headlines and contents I order to fulfil the conventions of contents pages of high end style magazines.

I added a website link to my contents page in order to show digital convergence

on the advice of my teacher, I changed the layout slightly in order to have less blank space

contents page one editing

for my contents page, in order to make it cohesive with my front cover layout, i used the same front and colour as i did on the two front pages. as this contents page was meant to go with Greta's front cover, i decided to use a photo of her in the content pages to show that the 2 link

i decided that i wanted to have an image on my contents page that showcased style, in order to ensure that my product meets the brief's requirements. therefore i added Chloe's picture and decided to make that the primary photo for the contents page, especially because i thought that the dimensions of the photo made it better suited to being the primary photo. i also decided to show a different photo of Greta as i feel that this shows more style, therefore making sure i stick with the brief

i added the date, contents page and title for the editors letter to fulfill conventions. i also added several article titles of what will be in my magazine issue. this once again fulfills conventions of contents pages

i added for article titles. one of my article titles is 'sincerely yours, burberry' which is an intertextual reference to the iconic film 'The Breakfast Club'. the article is about how Burberry are embracing new designs and individuality, so i thought that the breakfast club was a good film to reference her as that is the premise of the whole film. i also added page numbers, captions for my photos and social media links in order to fulfill conventions

i added a section on my contents page that referenced the front cover that accompanies this contents page. i looked at the Vogue website, and this very often has images of recent front covers, so i wanted to do this in order to follow conventions of style magazines.

AFTER THE FIRST DRAFT

after presenting my first draft of my contents page, I acted on the advice of my teacher and I decided to use a different photo as primary photo. I thought the the atmosphere and use en scene of this photo felt stylish, whilst also in keeping with the general 'vibe' of my magazine - quite artsy.

I decided o use a different model for my cut out, as I felt that it fit the more creative vibe of my magazine better. I also felt that I could show the model's outfit in more detail, appealing to the target audience who are interested in style. I also used another photo in the corner of my contents page so that the layout of my contents pages were consitant and created a sense of branding.

I added a website link to show digital convergence

Front cover two editing

for my first edit, I added the masthead to my cover image, and also erased some of the masthead in order to have my model's hands in front of the copy. I did this because it is a convention of Vogue, one of the main style magazines owned by Conde Nast. the masthead in red in order to link the 2 front covers, and provide a convention for my magazine.

I added the main cover line

I thoought that the cover line 'from vision to visionary' was not visible enough with the colour that i had chosen. i therefore changed it to a very dark blue, and i think that this enables in to be seen more clearly than the black that i was using previously

AFTER THE FIRST DRAFT

I decided to change the colour of the main cover line as I felt that it was not visible enough. I felt that white was easier to see and stood out more than the yellow. I also changed the secondary cover line, as I felt that it was too long and was a bit clunky, and I thought 'the revolution' was more succinct

I decided to remove my secondary cover line, as I felt that it looked too clunky and out of place in the centre of the page. I also felt the it covered too much of my models outfit, and I wanted the focus of the magazine to remain on style.
